I have repeatedly been liberated from the depths by a few scattered, elegant words. In the breadth of a single sentence the world can be transformed from mundane to fantastic, and when the story ends the world will still holds its beauty.
I burst into tears when I made it to the summit. I had been so certain that I wasn’t going to make it. An overwhelming feeling of liberation poured down on me and my doubts rolled right off my back. I couldn’t even be ashamed for being the only one of four grown men who was bawling uncontrollably.
I’ve been back at sea level for three days now, and that feeling still hasn’t left; I feel unstoppable, and I think that feeling is here to stay.
